The Kikayon Junior Congregation Siddur

 

​The first time David Smolar ran a Junior Congregation, over twenty years ago, he experienced what so many young educators and lay leaders face every week.  The kids, from grades ranging 3-6, were first shy, then twitchy, then rowdy and nudgy.

All of this could be solved, he realized later, with active learning experiences for the kids. 

​

The Kikayon Siddur can and should be used by anyone faced with leading a kids' service, teaching a new batch of kids, or looking for a way for the kids to teach each other through playful learning.  Best of all, they'll learn to lead the service themselves, getting the older kids more involved in synagogue life while training them to mentor the next generation.
